Whisky will not be a 7 seed I am thinking 5 or 6 at worst and it all depends on their match up in the tourney. If they can grind a game out then they will be tough to beat, remember Bo Ryan is an excellent coach for the talent he has and they will surprise a team or two in the tourney. Also, I feel it is better to rank them as they deserve a spot in the top 16 compared to cornell or utep. Lets be realistic with our 16 and actually rank teams that deserve the spot a 3 loss cornell team would stand a chance against a 7 or 8 loss ACC or Big East team.
I've seen UTEP play a few times this year, and they are just as capable of beating your beloved Whisky.
Cornell is the same way. They are the only team to go into Lawrence and play 39 minutes of great basketball. So while you may be right that a 3 loss Cornell team (losses to Syracuse, Kansas, Seton Hall) may not beat a 7 or 8 loss ACC team, they can run with your number 1 and my number 1.
The teams in the ACC with 7 or 8 losses are Virginia, Miami and Clemson. Do you mean to tell me that you would take any of them over Cornell on a neutral? You cannot be serious.
And why don't you rank one of them instead of Northern Iowa?

Valid point about Cornell, I still think the only acc team they beat on a neutral would be Miami. Uva and clemson would be to athletic for them..I know you are going to bring up the whole kansas game blah blah blah Kansas played poor and Cornell played there best game of the year...Cornell is a good team and yes I could have easily ranked them over Northern Iowa, but I will give credit to Northern Iowa for playing in a much tougher conference and rank them.
I do agree that Whisky isn't that much without Leuer, but he should be back by tourney time, right now they are the 3rd/4th best team in the Big 10 and we all know how good Mich St and Purdoodod have been all year and Ohio St with Turner is looking like a dark horse tourney team. I think they deserve credit for their wins against mich st, duke, purdodoo and ohio st. They also played purdododo tight a few weeks back in west lafayette and look at the games they lost the zags, mich st, purdue, ohio st and Green Bay in Ot..much better wins and losses than Cornell or UTEP.
I am glad to see that we both agree on G-Town as a borderline top 16 team as they can only win at home in snow storms or ridiculously hot shooting games....big games for the rest of the week.

Green Bay is a better loss than Seton Hall? UTEP's worst loss is to New Mexico State, same record essentially as Green Bay and UTEP played them in back to back games.
So I'm confused about that part of your argument.

Ok so Green Bay and Seton Hall don't really compare, but at least Whisky and northern iowa have played a much tougher schedule than that of utep and cornell. My point was that when you play all ivy league schools your won't really loss and who does utep have a win aganist UAB or Memphis...and they have losses to both NMSU and houston. I would have much rather seen you keep siena in your 16 than utep.
UTEP has the talent to make the Sweet 16, much more so than Northern Iowa. They have also beat the four teams they had to in order to be first in C-USA, and are simply rolling. They have a veteran squad that is primed to give some teams fits.
Northern Iowa's best win is against Siena at home and Iowa State on the road. Then there are conference wins against Wichita State (home) and Missouri State (home). You can't tell me the MVC is better than the C-USA, especially at the top. The top four C-USA teams could take the top four Pac 10 teams, thats for sure.
Sure Cornell plays in the Ivy. They've decimated everyone they've played, including beating Harvard by 30, which is actually something to be proud about this year (just ask Boston College). Harvard would be closer to an at large bid than Wichita State or Missouri State as well. Cornell scheduled really well, playing at #1 and at #2. They gave Kansas the best test outside of Tennessee. They've been to the tourney the last 2 years and are also ready to make some noise.
I'm ranking the 16 best teams right now, as well as the 16 teams I see at the end of the year making it to the Sweetness. I'll take Cornell and UTEP over the middling conference teams to date because outside of 3 or 4 teams, it is anyone's game come March.
And you know that.
Rick Barnes has got to be in meltdown mode early (even for him). Balbay isn't even a scoring threat, and the bigs are awful.
